I've been reading some various things online, and an article that I read suggested that people who have certain health issues should work on building their immunity. They then went on to say that if you are the one who always catches whatever is going around, you should build your immunity. I always always always get anything and everything that is going around. I used to be someone who never got sick. I truly don't know what changed. Unfortunately when doing Google searches for building immunity or the immune system, most of what I find is some site recommending their particular vitamin or supplement. I already eat fairly healthy. I already exercise. I already try to get a good amount of sleep. So, any ideas on how I can boost my immunity/immune system?

My daughter suggested fresh or frozen blueberries. they are yummy with ice cream. fresh spinach, salmon or other fish are also good sources of antioxidants.

Eating healthy foods and exercise are the best things you can do. Most of your immune system has to do with the health of your gut, so making sure you get plenty of probiotics, whether as supplements or through foods like yogurt, kefir, saurkraut, etc. will help tremendously. Another thing that helps is raw organic apple cider vinegar. A few tablespoons a day (diluting it helps) is good for so many health issues!

by getting sick and overcoming it you build up your immune system. so technically the best you could do is get close to sick. be exposed to the germs or whatever it is that makes you ill.

I am constantly and steadily exposed to germs and things that make me sick. It doesn't matter. I've worked with children for years and years and years, and yet I've never gotten to that "you don't get sick anymore" point. It just doesn't happen for me. I get sick, and I get everything that goes around. Seriously, if someone is sick where my husband works (that I generally never go to) I get sick with the same thing more than half the time. Probably closer to 75% of the time. My dad worked at a home doing repairs one time, and the little girl that lived there was being sent home because she had pink-eye. Dad never saw her, and I only saw dad... I still got it, and it was the only connection that we could find anywhere at the time. I also work in a preschool, and in childcare, and so I am constantly exposed to children who may or may not be well at any time. (and generally, there's at least 1 that's not feeling well on any given day I've been battling with illnesses like this for about the last 10-15 years. It just never gets better. In the past 3 months I've been on antibiotics 3 separate times for (1) a sinus infection (2) strep (3) some tonsil infection that wasn't strep. Plus, I had that stomach virus that was going around as well. I don't want to continue on like this.

raw organic apple cider vinegar so, regular apple cider vinegar wouldn't work? I have some of that on hand. I'm trying to imagine taking some by teaspoon full, and I'm not getting far... but, I guess if it was diluted it may taste a bit better... but still. yogurt - I've basically been eating 1 yogurt a day for the last several months. I've not noticed much difference, but I mentally feel better if I do that. 'Cause at least I know that I'm putting some good things back in my body. = ) I read somewhere on the internet to add lemon juice (fresh) to your water daily. I already do that, but maybe I should "up" that. =) I also think I'm going to switch my vitamin to something different. (and try desperately to be consistent with taking it)

In the winter, I try to be more diligent than usual about making sure I eat healthy and take a multivitamin. I also exercise and get a lot of rest. I also spend time outside everyday. I walk to and from work, which adds up to about a mile. I think spending too much time cooped up in the winter isn't good for you.

Great suggestions on building immune system. And IMO if you are not feeling well or constantly getting sick, you can't be all you can be for GOD! I went around for years on a wellness quest and hunted down a lot of paths I thought might be the reason for fatigue and multiple other things. I finally found out through the right doctor I had Lyme's disease which fed into all of the other issues. Hind site is 20/20, but I recommend to start with testing first..even if it is just hormonal and PH testing. Second, I recommend in addition to eating live and healthy foods to detox. Ionic foot baths, cleansing, sauna therapy, body wraps whatever works to help get body back into balance, because we all are carrying around alot of toxins from the environment and the food we eat! A well balanced whole food natural vitamin along with Greens to help keep the body in an alkaline state versus acidic is a must IMO. Also I have learned that Beta Glucan and Alpha Glycan are great for Immune boosting, but as with many things you have to make sure the source is the best of the best or you are throwing money down the drain!
