I have had particularly bad day today, the root of which can be traced to what seems like a failing business. I am self-employed, have been for 22 years. Always made a good living but lately, my income has been down around 40%. My family of 5 is struggling at the hand of it. The stress involved is taking it's toll on my wife and me. I feel like I am less than a man becuase of this. Tonight at dinner, I had a melt down with my son, something I never do. I am afraid but I do know in my heart that my provision comes from the Father above. I sowed a couple of extra seed offerings tonight. So I ask all of you who read this to pray for me and my family in NC. My name is Dean. Thanks for your prayers.

Hi Dean.

I Hope things turn around for you and your family.

I would like to add something.

quote:

I feel like I am less than a man because of this.

This is a lie from the enemy.

You are not your Job.

This is a failing with us guys. we tend to wrap our identity in our work.

Your value with God is simply you are his child.
Your value with your Kids is simply "Daddy"
Your value with your wife is simply "Husband"

I bet you all have been though plenty of tough scraps here and there.
I know there is alot of yourself in that business but it isn't you.

Should it all fail. (and We certainly hope and pray it doesn't)
you will still be God's Child, your children's Daddy and Husband to your wife.

V

Dean, I'm sorry that you are going through this. I have been unemployed for over a year now and know the stress that you are going under. As the previous poster has stated, you are not your job. God will provide and he has done that for me over this past year or so. I'm doing temp work while looking for a full time job and there are times that I feel the same way. Keep trusting God and he will pull through in his time.

I prayed for you and your family. I am so sorry you are going through tough financial times. I am myself, seems i'll never get my head above the water. I know that if I trust in the Lord, he will see me through. He will surely do the same for you!

This is a message for everyone, not just Dean. A few years ago I lost everything. I was fired while my wife had a major health event that wiped out my 401k etc my house was foreclosed, my van repossessed, my wife left me for another man/men with my kids, I had to leave my dog behind, I committed a crime that will follow me for life, my family was abused by a pastor with a god complex, I finally found myself at the hands of twisted people who in various ways thought they would take control of my life. This is not a pity party. This was God's way of letting me know that this world is not the way. I was a money grubber.

Today I have a new son who God used to unite my family by my obedience to my duty as a father and a child of God. I have a new house, van, family, job, 401K, dog, church pastor, but best of all I walk closely with God. Not by feelings but by knowledge. I witness at work home family friends jail etc etc.

You are a man of God. A son of the Most High God. A Prince with a promise. You are immortal until you are called home. Your family is in the hand of the Most High God. What could you ever do for your family that God has not already done. “What is man, that thou are mindful of him?”
