I need feedback! I am making a homemade christmas gift for my mother, grandmother, my husbands mother, and a couple who has adopted our son as a grandson.

This is an example for what it's going to be like:

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i295/flintejae/LiveLaughLove.jpg

Except the top is going to be a handprint of my son (their grandson/great grandson.) Most of them live far away and can't see their grandson so this should (I pray) be something they love. The second frame will be some sort of saying about how great grandma's are, and the third one will be a picture. I am STUMPED On what picture to chose. That's where your advice comes into play.

I don't know if I should do my sons picture with his feet/hands in the air to tie in the handprint or do a family photo my friend fixed up for us. They rarely see us and so part of me thinks the family photo.

What do you think?

I am going to do a poll.

1. Family Photo with Bass done

2. Family Photo with sharpened Bass done

3. Photo of my son

Hi, Jae;

Sounds like a very nice gift for the women in your life.

I would probably go with the photo of Jadon only because the middle saying is about being a grandma, the handprints are of Jadon's -- seems like a whole Jadon-thing to me.

But that's me. The photos of the 3 of you are very nice and would be nice there, too. Your friend did a nice job with the special effects!

I agree, since its a "Jadon - theme" I'd do the pic of just him.

I think where I feel torn is that my family don't' have any pictures of the three of us. I know they want one. I LOVE that photo (Crystal is AMAZING), Jadon is in the photo, and I feel like they'd be happier with the three of us.

But, then I'm second guessing this homemade gift thing the entire time I'm trying to make it!

Jae, you could always put the photo of Jadon in the frames with the handprint and quote (I think that would flow best) and still send them a copy of the family photo separately.

that's what I'll do! That way, if they don't' like what I'm making, they can still have that photo to hang separate.

Which bass photo do you like best?

I agree with the others. I think you ought to send the bass done photo with the gift.

So, the Clay handprint went down hill fast. I'm taking Ryanne's suggestion and doing a paint handprint. It'll be JUST Like the above picture now - except for different fabric. I just bought more foam board to make an additional frame. Now I just have to print the pictures and sayings.

This handprint thing has been a DISASTER. It just isn't going to happen. The clay we had to buy is too brittle and chipped. The paint... well, it got EVERYWHERE but an intelligible handprint. I may just have to do pictures - the naked baby one, the saying, and the photo of us. I HAVE to mail two of these out no later than Tuesday.

Okay. We did it. It's done. Let me know what you think. Would you appreciate this and even gladly hang it on your wall?

HUH? Does he have a forked thumb? I have a couple kids that I watch after school that have a gene in their family where almost everyone on their dad's side has some kind of unusual toes or fingers. The kids both had forked thumbs at birth and they each only have 2 toes on each foot but the look different. Their dad's thumb is as long as his index finger and the top joint on one finger is bent sideways. They love the verse "How beautiful are the feet of them that bring good news..." Mom is a friend of mine and she has the wierd hands and feet in the family.

It's a polydactyl thumb. Essentially, he has two thumbs in one. It's on his left hand. We're going to get surgery after he's a year old to change it, though.
