Hello everyone. We had a great time last night in Chester,SC at the Kingsmen concert. The Harvesters quartet was also there, they did a good job. There was a mixed quartet there by the name Kings Cause they opened up and did good. On to the Kingsmen, Ray Dean was not feeling well but like a true trooper he still sang and held his on. They opened with Glory Road and a couple of classics, then went on to sing The Word, Weary Traveler, When God Ran and several others then closed out the first half with Harrold singing God Saw A Cross. The crowd really got into that song. They came back in the second round and did a few more classics then did He's all I Need with a alter call. After that they closed out with When My Feet Touch The Streets Of Gold. The Kingsmen did a great job and they are really having fun now. This is a great line up and they get better and better. Also the new recordings will be out sometime late March or early April hopefully.

Awesome. I will get to be at that concert for sure!!!! Is this church a real formal church, or a more casual atmosphere?
How many folks will this church seat?

It will be a casual atmosphere, we'll have some in suits but others in I guess best way to describe would be "business casual" but where what you like, we are a very friendly church and just would like for you to come worship with us. Our church will sit according to fire marshall 364. not a big church but not small either. You can get directions on our websit. www.ebcknox.com // this is very short notice from harper agency so if you could help pass the word along we would appreciate it. Looking forward to seeing you. Please come introduce yourself to me. God bless!

I wish I could be there but it is a little far for me to travel, with our quartet singing twice Sunday. If you get a chance to talk to Phillip tell him Todd M. from North Wilkesboro,NC. said hello. They are a good bunch of men. I always enjoy being around them. I hope you have a great time and someone gets saved.

Yes indeed, it was a great night. I really enjoyed them. This was the first time that I have seen the group live since 2003.
I have been openly critical on here about what I was hearing on CD at times, but last night I will have to say that LIVE, they are still as good as ever. This lineup does sound good live. That DVD set they released a year or 2 back did them a great injustice. It was nowhere as good as they really sound live.
The whole Tuckeyhoe thing was just hilarious. The look on Bryan Hutson's face was priceless!!!!
Even funnier was Ray getting there late for the first song!!!!! That was funny when he came running up the aisle from the bathroom!!!!
Great night, great fun, great spirit!!!!
I have to say that I was most impressed by Phil Hughes of all people. I know I have said that I didn't think his voice fit in real well, but hearing the variety of songs that they did, from all different lineups, he did great, and he is a super nice guy!!!!
And yes, my foot does taste real well in my mouth!!!!!
(Bryan and a few others will get that, if they remember some of my past comments). I wont apologize for my comments, because they were made with the information that I had, but with my new frame of reference, I will retract the negative things I said about the new lineup.

Oh, and wasn't Ray's "watermelon, watermelon, watermelon" bit just great.
As long as I have been watching the Kingsmen, they have always had ONE song during the night that was a "skit".
I remember once it was Ray saying "hep" instead of "help" on a song.
It was the piano player, playing it too "boogie woogie" as Parker would say.
Someone was always the butt of the joke, but it was always just toooo funny.
They have just always been a group that liked to have fun during the performance, and that is one of the things that makes them "The Kingsmen"!!!!

I know Friday they couldn't do it because of the space on stage, but I have always loved their stage entrance, where would all come on stage from different sides, right after the music started. Do they still do that where room allows, like in an auditorium or concert hall???

BTW here is the songs they did Friday, to the best of my recollection. If anyone remembers anymore, I'd love it if you'd post it. Here goes: These are not in order.

Someday
When It's All Said and Done
Cheer on the Weary Traveler
God Saw a Cross
God Knows
Glory Road
Getcha To the Other Side
Healing Stream
The Next Cloud
He's All I Need
When My Feet Touch the Streets of Gold
Traveling Home
The Word (sang the whole song 2 times)
When God Ran
My Past has Passed

They also sang one of my favorite Kingsmen songs from the past; Meet Me At The Table. We really enjoyed this concert.

That is one of my favorites also. This group does a good job with it too.

Hey guys! The Kingsmen were featured on the Gospel Greats last week, did anyone here listen? I didn't get to hear all of it, so I was wondering if anyone heard it and would like to share! Thanks!

I finally, on the night I saw the Kingsmen in Knoxville, bought their new album. It is, in my opinion, the best album they have done since You're Not Alone. I saw alot of the "Kingsmen Sound" in this album that I thought was missing in When God Ran, although it was a very good album too. Those up tempo "3 chords and a cloud of dust" songs were great, but I guess my fav. is "God Saw a Cross", which is a terrific song, that Harold sings so well.
The only songs that I am not crazy about on the whole album are "Missing People", and "He is the Only One".. I like those, but they pale in comparison to some of the others on the album. "Someday", "Cheer the Weary Traveler", "When it's all Said and and Done", "They Went to Pray", and "He Picks Up a Beggar on the Way", are very good upbeat songs, that remind me of why I started liking the Kingsmen in the first place.
The slower "God Saw a Cross" and "God Knows" are tremendous songs that I could see either of them as song of the year.

I've been listening to them more lately. There for a while I thought they were a little boring. I've always been a Kingsmen fan. Their live recordings are the best in Southern Gospel.
