I'm not a smoker, but most of my family smokes and have had trouble quitting. Also, since I'm around smokers so much, I wonder if someone can get a craving for second-hand smoke when they're constantly around smokers? A few times, I felt a craving for it when I was ill and couldn't be around smokers for a week. Have any of you who've either never smoked, or haven't smoked in a long time, ever had any cravings for second-hand smoke?

BTW, I started a thread on this topic, but only 1-2 people responded, so I figured they must be coming here, so that's why I'm posting this. I really need to know this info for health reasons, so I hope that all of you can help me.

Melissa- that sounds like it could be possible.

I smoked 5 cigarettes today...... I didn't smoke 15 of the 20 I usually smoke.

Melissa- I wouldn't doubt it at all.

Well, I've now been 48 hours without a cigarette. I really wanted to quit as a Christmas gift to my family and it seems God decided to make sure I did it! I've got the most horrible cold/flu right now. It certainly takes the edge off the cravings when you're already feeling horrible!

74 hours and counting!! I'm starting to get over my flu now too. DH was concerned that I would start back once I started feeling well again- but I feel like I've gotten through the worse of it and DO NOT want to start all over again. Part of me still wishes I were a smoker. Sadly, it is something I really enjoy, but I know how horrible it is for me. I want to be around a long time for my little ones and the sooner I quit, the better!

Go back, read what looks right to you, chew on them carrots! And also read jimbos posts to me, they were very helpful in helping me quit smoking.

I quit 4 years ago this month.
Just up and threw them away and never looked back.

I had tried several times over the years to quit. Used the patch, tried Wellbrutrim, everything. But one day, I just said " I am not going to do this anymore" and I stopped. I never missed it, I never wanted another one, nothing. I am thankful for God every day for that.

I will say, the first 6 months of quitting I had the WORST cough ever. My now ex had come home from training out of state and I had been quit probably almost 4 months or more by then. The kids were like "daddy, mommy quit smoking" and he was like "um yea it sure sounds like it" due to my cough. BUT, I think it was all that awful junk coming out of me that was in my lungs. They weren't used to fresh air and me not smoking. I finally got over the cough and after that, I felt much better.

Now, I can't stand the smell of smoke. I can smell a smoker a mile away too. Your smelling senses really come back to you after you quit. I do not crave them I do not miss them nothing. I am never tempted to buy any or to bum one off of someone.

So, it can be done. And believe me, if I can do it anyone can. I never thought I would quit in a million years. Knowing I kicked that habit, I KNOW I can do anything I set my mind to, like getting my body where I want it to be now.

A warm welcome to the forums for those who have quit, want to quit, or who just want to hang around those who have or have tried quitting smoking. From my experience: You are among friends, at least they helped me a lot!

From what you tell of your background, it looks you are already much more of a winner then many. Praise God for your victories in quitting some very hard addictions! I have no idea of the hardships and struggles and victories of your road so far, but it humbles me.

As for three cigarettes a day: All it takes is ONE successful attempt to quit!
As for this forum: Scroll back and read, you will see MANY different stories and struggles.

Again: Welcome!

SOOOOOOOOO sorry!Silverstring I must confess that I DID look at your profile and I thought that I had changed the "her to "him". I will try
to be more careful. I would have felt even worse if you had been so upset that you had broken your clean record because I my mistake!!
