Perhaps you could use Beckey's phone number as a "how-to" hotline.

Will the 5 hour time difference be a problem?

So the bird is brining. I am sure too that the buttermilk will add a nice flavor as well as keep it moist. I've had free range chicken but not turkey. It is truly drier. I wanted to try the kosher turkey but kosher is more expensive and the free range is already rather expensive itself. Good thing it's just once a year.

What I really wanted to order was the turducken. But those sold out really fast!

Beckey, if your turkey is not defrosted what do you do? I want to defrost it in the sink but everything says to totally submerge it and our sink is not big enough. Any help?

You can fill it as much as you can and then flip it every hour or so.

I want to take a moment to praise amazon and their wish list system. Not that I'm promoting greed or anything, I'm not. But the kids are always telling me what they want for Christmas and I always tell them to make a list. They do, and then the list gets lost or misplaced or thrown away accidentally. This year I have separate wish lists for all of our family members at amazon, and it's not just limited to stuff amazon sells....you can install a button on your browser and when your shopping just click on "add to my wish list" and it adds it, along with a link.

I'm only excited about this because my sisters (yeah, all five of them) are always asking, "what are the kids into? what do they like? what do they want?" yadayadayada. And now I can just point them toward amazon and all they have to do is plug in my email address. Too cool. Amazon rocks.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!! I'm gonna try Donna's idea first and see what happens in the morning.

Beckey, I used their wishlist about 5 years ago when the kids were smaller. It was soooo easy. I didn't know about adding things from other places. That sounds pretty cool!!!

Thank you Terri!

I had a very nice Thanksgiving, except for maybe being a bit exhausted (only got 2 hours of sleep), and having an allergic reaction to a banana I ate (I took benedryl for it, which contributed more to my exhaustion).

The food was good, the company was good and we all had a great time. I sure slept well when my head hit the pillow, that's for sure.

That sounds fun, Beckey. Well, all except for the allergic reaction! Do you always have reactions to bananas, or was it unexpected?

I have some trouble with the enzymes in fresh fruits and vegetables. Sometimes I have reactions, sometimes I don't. It's really very strange. But I get hives in my mouth and throat. Not fun.

My hands are swollen today, I don't know if it's just from using them so much yesterday, from doing dishes 20 + times or what. It's wierd.

Hey, thanks for that Amazon idea. This year we're all set, but will know for another time!

Hope you're doing better now.

I've never used the Amazon's wish list feature, but I do a huge part of my Christmas shopping with them. I love that store! They always have everything I am looking for at great prices and they get them here fast. And I can shop in my jammies and avoid the crowds

I'm really enjoying my clean house. I think we are going to try to get the tree up this weekend (maybe). I won't let Ronnie put the lights on the house until the roof trim is painted. We still haven't done that since having the roof replaced over the summer. Guess I'll be pretty busy the next couple weeks.

Congrats on your turkey!!! Ours turned out pretty good too. It was a huge 23 lb bird.

Yeah, the hives do hoover. Kinda feels like what I imagine a hairball would feel like to a cat. Only hacking doesn't help it go away.

Well I did have chicken pox. So it must feel like that.

lol.

I think I better get out of the house before I end up napping for the rest of the day. It's noon here.

I napped almost the whole day! I had to get up early and take Annie downtown for jury duty and then we (me and the kids) came home and all climbed into my bed and snuggled and fell back asleep.

Then Ronnie came home bearing breakfast tacos and I got up and ate a couple, then I laid back down. Got up again after a couple hours and fed the kids and then Annie called to be picked up, so I went and picked her up and made a quick trip to the grocery store for bread, milk and soda. I came home, made Ronnie a sandwich and then I went and laid back down for about an hour. Got up and cooked dinner. I think I need to take my vitamins.

((((Beckey)))))

Speaking of cats and hairballs though, I found this really cute 3D picture sound card by Hallmark and sent it to Josh and Anoush from me and their cats.

The picture was of a group of carolers. They were all cats. When you wiggled and tilted the picture their heads would move and eyes open and close. Then when you open it up a song plays and then you hear coughing and meow or two... The line was something about interrupted because of a hairball LOL!!

I signed it from "the crew at 482"
(482 being the house #) Had a couple of paw prints on the envelope in the return address area.
Hope it puts a smile on their face getting it at 'Noush's aunt's house.

I think I am going to go look for some unique PEZ dispensers for the next mailing.

PEZ dispensers are fun! Do they collect them?

I ordered my Christmas present the other day. I'm so excited, really. And I'm NOT waiting til Christmas to open it either. It's coming out of the box as soon as it is delivered. Hey, I have to make sure it works properly, don't I?

A coffee maker??? Why not an ice cream maker.

Yes on the PEZ dispensers...kinda. Josh has a lot of different ones. I didn't realize how much Anoush appreciated them too until I sent them a couple with necklace cords at Easter time and Anoush wore hers to work at Penny's and a bunch of people asked her where she got it. Pez dispensers have come a long way. They come in plush now too.

Beckey, that is exactly what Mrs. K wants for Christmas!!!

I better get on the ball, it seems that they may be popular.

Beckey! I am so jealous about your Christmas present! I'm thinking about one of those too. In fact, I started a thread a few days ago in home and garden about that coffee maker.
