Got notified that they are going to keep Jimmy in the hospital. They did mention doing a heart Cathe tomorrow. Please keep my buddy in your prayers. Jimmy has never spent a night in the hospital. So this is quite different for him. PRAY..... Thanks, Joe and all the Diplomats

Foster got a call about 6:30 this AM from Corey. The doctors said that the enzymes in the bloodwork that they did on Jim indicated a heart attack. As Joe said, they are planning a heart cath procedure. I'm about to head to the hospital soon. As Joe said, some of us will keep you updated. Just keep the gang in your prayers. He didn't mention it, but Joe's family has been sick with a virus of some sort most of the week, so remember them, too. As you may know, they've had a tough few months, with Joe's recent heart scare, and Debbie's foot and ankle surgery. God is doing a great work through The Diplomats. Satan doesn't like it, and these are just some minor attacks from the Enemy. Please pray that all the Diplomats will be able to do whatever it takes to get healthy enough to carry on this great work that they've been blessed with! Their best days are ahead!!! Another thought: Having attended some 200+ concerts in the last few years with Jimmy, I've never failed to hear him say "I believe in the healing power of Jesus" (when speaking of Rita's healing of cancer). I can't wait for him to get better, and to see him try to say that on stage after experiencing God's touch first hand! Well, Glory!

I just got off the phone with Joe Brown. He's getting ready to head to the hospital, and he said he'd let me know the outcome of the heart cath as soon as he finds out something. The Diplomats are so thankful for all the prayers, love and concern.

I just got the news from Jimmy's heart cath. He's got several blockages in his coronary arteries, and he's going to have several bypasses. They'll be transferring him to either Rome or Piedmont, probably later today. Please continue to pray for the Diplomats, especially Rita.

Check out the prayer request thread. I posted an update there. Do continue to pray for The Pearson Family. Oh, I forgot to mention.... Jimmy's older half-sister passed away last night. So that's been an added stress on them in the last few days. They wanted me to express how overwhelmed they have been by the prayers and concerns of their many, many friends in the last 24 hours. Just keep laboring in the Throne Room on their behalf!

Well, The doctors have informed Jimmy that he will be sent to Piedmont Hospital Sat and they are going to do the surgery Tues instead of Monday because of the surgeon's schedule. Keep Jimmy in your prayers and the family.

I'm certainly praying for Jimmy and the rest of the gang. I had no idea that any of this was happening because I haven't been on here in a few days. We were just talking about the Dips this morning on the bus as we were traveling to our morning singing appointment. They are truly some of the nicest people we have ever been privileged to share the stage with. Praying down a healing for Jimmy!

This is posted on the Diplomats' website: Hello all, Dad is currently at Piedmont hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He is doing okay right now. He will be having a bypass surgery Tuesday. Please keep me and mom and family in your prayers. Doctors say that he is a very lucky man, but I say he is very blessed. He did have a heart attack but doctors say that none of the heart muscle was damaged. As far as the Christmas tour and other dates are concerned, we are continuing the dates with help from friends. Please keep me and the group in your prayers because this will be very hard to sing onstage without mom and dad there by my side. We've been together singing for 21 years now. This is not my first choice, but with the request of my dad he made me promise that we would proceed as normal and finish out the rest of the year. So please continue to support any of the concerts that you had originally planned to attend. We will still be there! Please continue to keep us in your thoughts an prayers as we endure this trial. You all know the song there IS a blessing somewhere in this trial! Thanks and may God bless each and every one of you. See you on the road! Sincerely, Corey

Jim, Thank you so much for the update. I am so pleased to hear that there is no permanent damage from the heart attack. And, I'm very pleased that the Dips, with subs, will be finishing out the year as planned. Jimmy and Rita can sure be proud of Corey for keeping things going in their absence!

Foster and I went by for a quick visit with Jim and Rita last night. He's looking very good, considering what he's been through this weekend. Mrs. Rita's VERY tired, as you can imagine. She was suppose to go home for the first time last night, and Jim's sister, Wanda, was gonna stay with him. Corey was able to bring Audree by to see 'Papa', and about the time they came in, Corey's sister, Rhonda & her husband Ty came in with their new baby, Sydney. You talk about a little Gospel Singer lighting up!! You just oughta seen Jimbo! He loves all his 'babies'. Even though I'm not blood-related, and even though he's just barely old enough to be my Dad, I'm proud t be one of them 'babies' to him!! He's only one of TWO SG people, I'll let call me 'baby'... The other is Little Jan Buckner. Anyway, just keep all the Dip Gang in your prayers. It's gonna be an interesting week to say the least...

Dear Corey, Steve and I are so sorry to hear about your Dad. We are praying daily for him and your Mama. We love yall dearly. Is there anything I can do to help? I can't sing like your Mama, but I would love to try and fill in for her if she would allow me the honor of doing so. PLEASE call me if you need me. We are going thru family trials as well. Steve's mama is at EMORY and she has congestive heart failure and we are back and forth from Statham to Emory about every other day. Please send our love and prayers and good lord willing we will see yall Thursday night in Gainesville. Thanks to Joe-Joe and Charlie for the updates. We love yall, too.

Just got a phone call from Charlie. He said it was about 3:00 before they started surgery on Jimmy and it would probably be around 7:00 before they knew anything. Please keep Jimmy in your prayers. If & when I hear further I'll be posting the information.

Hey, gang... Sorry that we didn't have good internet access today at the hospital. Thanks to Robert for helping us get a post or two up quickly. He's a dear friend to me, and to Mr. Jim, too. This has been ONE MORE long day. We are ALL exhausted, but are praising God for bringing Jim through the surgery just fine. He's got a long way to go, but with your prayers, and support, he should be just fine. The doctors said that he should be able to try to go back on the road in mid-January. I wouldn't be surpised if he's not at the annual NYE singing in Villa Rica, GA. He probably won't be able to sing, or even stay all night, but I bet he'll be there, if at all possible! Just pray that the rest of this journey will go well, and that Corey and the rest of the gang can carry on this weekend, as Jim has requested. We'll keep you posted about the Christmas Tour this week.
