My advice would be to contact a Lactation Consultant...does your pediatrician have one on staff? You might be able to call up your insurance and ask for ones within your plan.

is she taking the bottle okay? Because if she is taking the bottle okay...that could be part of the problem...she has figured out that the bottle is easier (you don't have to work as hard to get milk out of a bottle)....but that is NOT a permanent problem..so keep trying to nurse her.
Rather than just simply giving her the bottle...do the bait and switch on her....start nursing her until she stops and is fussing...then feed her the bottle for a few minutes and switch her back to the breast...

It could well be that she has decided she prefers the bottle. It can easily happen, because the baby doesn't have to work so hard to get the milk.

It's kinda hard to switch them back. You have to coax her into it. Maybe if you can hand express or use your pump to get your faucets going first, maybe she'll be happy it's coming out already and she doesn't have to suck with nothing coming out for a few moments.

I pumped for the first time today, so that I could go to the Ladies Night Out at church on Thursday. I pumped two different times and got a total of 7 ounces!!! I was pretty happy with that. I probably should start pumping regularly now since I go back to work in a month. Work was nice enough to give me 2 1/2 extra weeks off so that I don't have to come back until the holidays, and because of that I've been putting off pumping. Hmmm...

I can imagine that it is hard to let go of having to keep track of what he eats...just remember that as you can "measure" it still...just by keeping track of his diapers and the fact that he is "milk drunk"...lol

You can switch her back...but it sounds like she has gotten a really good case of nipple confusion (which is why they don't recommend using a bottle before 6 weeks UNLESS YOU HAVE TO)....and she may or may not switch back to pure nursing. That depends on you and how much work you are willing to put into switching her back...but as manda pointed out...if you need her to take bottles too....you may be facing a losing battle.
There is nothing wrong with either of you.

I do want her to take a bottle while I am at work of course, but when I am at home I would much prefer her to be nursing...I don't know if that will be possible now that she will be taking bottles while I am at work though.

If I've understood correctly, Bee's baby will be having a number of bottles per day, Monday to Friday, as Bee is having to work quite long days, and also her daycare is an hour's drive away. But then at weekends, her baby won't theoretically need any bottles at all.

Yes I know that. I know other women who do it with 4-5 bottles a day. I was just trying to offer Bee some encouragement. But babies can do both.
My sister in law did it... she exclusively nursed when she was home (weekends and one half day a week) and then her babies took bottles while she was at work...she would nurse them before leaving them at 7 am...and then would nurse them at night after they got home (at 7 pm).
Bee is just going to have to really work at getting her baby to NURSE right now if she wants to be able to do both. It will be hard (as you know Erin) since baby has already been taking a bottle. It is much easier if baby does not get that first bottle until they are at least 6 weeks old, but it NOT impossible if that has not been the case.
She just has to decide to really work at it.

Question:
Our niece is 14 weeks old and tonight she spit up when they were leaving MIL's house and there was blood in it. SIL took her immediately to the clinic where they checked the baby out and said the baby was fine. Could be from SIL, they said.
SIL said she's been tender on one side (that side) for a few days now. Could that cause bleeding into the breastmilk?
Just thought I'd ask the question as I am curious for the answer. SIL is going to see her doctor and get herself checked out tomorrow so it's well underway to find the cause but wondered if ladies here had any thoughts.

mastitis or bad infection can cause blood.

It will not get Jadon sick, whatever you are battling, in fact, your body should start making antibodies to whatever has you sick.

I have a nursing question. How long do growth spurts last? Hannah has been nursing nearly every hour on the hour --thankfully during daylight hours and not during the night--- for the past 3 days. She sleeps 3 - 3 1/2 hour periods at night and wakes in the late morning ravenous. She isn't lolly gagging either while feeding. She will nurse 15-30 minutes and then want to nurse again an hour later. This ravenous eating happens mainly from 10am - 1pm. Is she trying to increase my milk supply? What is going on with this recent increase in feeding?
