Hugo spent the most time with Jacob so maybe his importance is expanding. The next epi is titled Lighthouse & Hugo asks Jack to go on an errand with him.

Wow, I just caught up on the last two episodes on-line. Impressions- Claire did look like Rousseu, and don't forget they both landed on the island pregnant, both had their babies stolen, or attempted stolen. Did anyone catch when Locke/Smokey took the white rock off the scale a threw it away, there was only the black rock. Obviously some good vs. evil thing, but also the name of the ship "Black Rock". And, okay! We're finally getting somewhere with the numbers! I'm sticking with my prediction that Hurley's the key. He spent the most time w/ Jacob, he sees and speaks to the dead people, he unleashed the numbers, his imaginary friend (Smokey?) tried to kill him, etc.

How come Kate the annoyer does not have a number? Interesting observation.... That episode was way too Locke-centric for my tastes.

I am glued.. and with the new twist the writers just may surprise me with this TV show.. I thought I had it figured out and now I have not a clue where it is going. Hats off to this writing team for turning out a terrific story. Also I love Matt Fox - have to and want to because he's from Wyoming and so am I. We are proud of our guy.

I've really enjoyed reading all these comments, especially about the allusions and symbolism. One thing that struck me is that in the alternate timeline Ben is still evil Ben from the island who occasionally visits the mainland, so when he introduces himself as a history teacher to John, he's really just posing as a teacher and has a hidden agenda for being there. So, does he have a reason for contacting John? Hmmm ....

I'm not sure if there is an island in the alternate time line.

I hadn't considered before that the island would not have existed in the alternate time line. However, that IS possible, because the bomb theoretically could have totally destroyed the island and everyone on it back in 1980 (or whenever the bomb was detonated). So that would mean that Ben was dead, and the high school teacher is a look-alike in the alternate timeline (and the doctor is an Ethan look-alike). So that means that in the OTHER timeline (where the Oceanic survivors are now on the island in the temple, etc.) the island did NOT blow up. This is all very confusing! I trust the writers will bring it all together at some point.

In the opening scene this season they panned down from the plane to the bottom of the ocean where the giant statue foot lay.

I'm still wondering what happened to Desmond. He was sitting next to Jack and just gone.

Another great episode tonight. It left me in so much suspense I can hardly stand it. And back to the alternate timeline ... I guess if Ben is also Ben Linus in the alternate timeline, that means either his dad didn't go to work for the Dharma Initiative and Ben stayed on the mainland and became a caring teacher, or else at some point something saved Ben on the island, and he returned to the U.S. before the island was blown up. At any rate, the "darkness" did not overtake him, apparently, probably because Sayid never shot him since Sayid's plane never crashed on the island, so Ben was never taken to the temple where he lost his "innocence." So now he seems to be a successful, caring, emotionally healthy individual. Poor Claire. I wonder why she said she'd kill Kate for raising Aaron? Seems like she doesn't remember wandering off into the jungle. And that lighthouse was awesome! Again, the imagination in this show blows me away....

trinigirl722 - I agree - those writers are so imaginative. A lighthouse with a dial that allows you to look into people's lives? Simply amazing. I wonder how Jack's son will be worked into the narrative on the island? Like, when Jack and Kate see each other again, how I wonder if there'll be a scene where Jack looks sad and Kate says something to him like "thinking about your son?" so that it seems that she knew about him the whole time that they were together. I've been thinking about the construction of the show; there are just enough holes that you can play around with things - like the whole 3 years that they were off-island - there are few episodes really related to that, so you can easily add twists and turns to the plot. I have a feeling that Jack's son is going to be included somehow on the island - I'm not sure how, but we'll see. Maybe he'll show up as a grown man later on ... you never know with Lost. I think that when people get inhabited by the darkness that has taken over Locke and Claire they have a propensity to kill. Claire's behavior is unstable already - so I could see her thinking that if Kate has her baby, she stole it - instead of thinking that Kate took care of the baby when Claire disappeared. I find it interesting that when Jin saw unLocke, he referred to him by name "John?" - then Claire said "That's not John. That's my friend."

I don't think she see's Locke, she is part of the darkness. I thought it was weird that she said she would kill Kate too, but she also has totally lost it being there alone for 3 years with the darkness feeding into her. I loved the mirrors, but again, why did Jack just break them. It made me think of God when Jacob was talking about you can lead them to certain places, but your can't force them. Big thing about free will. I thought it was weird that Jack has a son, and I want to know who is the mother. And why did they have that creepy guy at the piano recital? Who is number 108, that they were going to be calling? Desmond?

I know she was in Santa's Slay, starring wrestler Bill Goldberg as a murdering Santa riding a sleigh pulled by a buffalo. Lord help me for knowing that. LOL. If you are referring to Roswell, it also starred a pre-Grey's Anatomy Katherine Heigl.

Good point about Claire -- poor thing out in the jungle by herself grieving the loss of her son -- I guess it's not surprising she'd say she'd kill the person who'd been raising her son. What a great actress, though! This character is so different from the previous Claire (and sideways Claire). And she's really creepy-convincing in this role, too! One thing I wondered is, "Where is Sawyer?" "Un-Locke" told Sawyer they'd leave the island "together," but I didn't see any Sawyer in the scene with Claire. Maybe he'll show up soon, though. It just reminds me of the Jacob "boy" telling "Un-Locke" he wasn't allowed to kill Sawyer ... did he try?

I think that just like FLocke (or Smocke) couldn't kill Jacob himself, I don't think he can get off the island by himself. That could be wrong but it's what I'm thinking so far. I wonder how Sawyer could even get out of the cave since the ladders were broken. I read somewhere that Claire got killed when Keamy and his team destroyed New Otherton. I vaguely remember her being there, and spinning away when he shot up the houses, so this is some sort of fake Claire. I dunno, just something I read.
