This has got to be one of the most boring audition shows I have seen thus far. No one in my opinion is really standing out this season. Avril and Katy did not get a lot of air time in judging. They seemed like they focused more on the bad instead of the good. The best guest judges that they have had this season is Shania and Kristen. I believe that this week is the last of the audition shows and we move on to LA. Hmmm, maybe it is time to get a hobby.

Me too. I've always enjoyed the auditions more than the rest of the show. Are the screening better or running out of patience?

Did anyone else think Kathy Perry was a bit arrogant? (trying to think of a word that wouldn't be a TOS).

I didn't get that from Katy but Avril was a complete space case.

What annoys me is that the shows are just bad singer, montage, commercial break, montage, good singer, commercial break...and repeat. 75% of the show is a montage of random clips that have no bearing on the competition. It's irritating at the end when they say, "If you want to see the rest of the people that made it through to Hollywood, visit AmericanIdol.com."

I don't want to watch the rest of the auditions on the website! That's why I watched the show! If I even did desire to watch the rest of the auditions, there would be a 30 second commercial before everyone. After 60 something contestants...how annoying would that be?

As for Katy Perry, I think it was an act. It seemed forced to me. She's a poor man's Pink anyway, not much for her to brag about...two hits, woohoo! Simple Minds also had a lot of hits, but what do we remember them for? Don't You Forget About Me(ironically, we did). As for Avril Lavigne...she's been a space cadet since she came on the scene in 2002. I laughed that she's still holding on to the delusion that she's "punk rock." Keep holding on, Avril...cause you know you'll make it through, make it through.

@everythingat - Yeah the show's format can get kind of annoying but it is worth it to see and hear the gems like Andrew Garcia. That guy was amazing! Check out his voice again.

I thought Katy and Avril were both arrogant. Avril's comments to the worship leader/father were rude. He was auditioning for a show when he already knew that travel may be involved. Evidently she couldn't come up with another reason to say "no".

I did like the worship leader/father guy and glad that he got through in spite of Avril's comments.

I wondered why each of them only got one day to judge....but I guess someone else realized that neither of them were very good at it.

Definately!

What's sad is that she used to be a Christian. She flopped in the CCM market, then went secular and was bounced from a number of record labels. Now she's just one of many cookie cutter, trampy pop divas.

Interesting tidbit is that both her parents are pastors, but unlike Jessica Simpson, they are disgusted at where she has taken her career.

I always say that when AI started I enjoyed the auditions more because they were funny and didn't like the performance shows because I liked it better when it was called Star Search. But the worm has turned and I can't stand these audition shows because they are full of idiots who just want to get on tv. And as I discover more music all the time, I am loving the performance shows. So bring them on please.

My goodness...guess I'll have to be the one who sticks out from the crowd...I liked Avril. She was sweet, like Shania. I've only ever heard her name...never listened to her music or read anything about her, so all I had to go on was last night, and she seemed ok to me. I was disappointed that she didn't stick around for the rest of the show.

As for her question, I didn't think it was rude at all, I thought it was spot-on. Yeah, this guy thinks he can handle it now, but how often has he traveled away from his family? If he makes it throught to the live shows, then he'll be away from his family for weeks. Remember how in past seasons the contestants were getting teary-eyed and saying how much they missed their families? And those were the young, single ones. Thinking you can handle something is a whole world away from doing it. And the fact that he wants to be away from his family for weeks on end (and then Lord knows how much if he wins) just to get some fancy recording contract doesn't say much to me. Even Christian artists are not immune from divorce...and who knows if he would stay "pure"...I heard that Daughtrey and Carrie Underwood were Christians (or claimed to be) when they won but you sure wouldn't know it now...I know what I'm talking about here. My cousin's husband has been a worship leader in their church for years, and he and his band just signed a recording contract...with a secular label. I haven't asked why...not my business...but I'm guessing for the money. If Christian guy here wins, he'll be making secular music for a secular company for what? A year? I'm sure he's thought about that, too.

As for Katy Perry, normally I can't stand her...but last night I loved her. Her opening remark about it being ridiculous for the judges to arrive by helicopter was hilarious...it WAS a little over-the-top. And her remark to Kara, "This isn't a Lifetime movie" just made me LOL. That's exactly what the producers do, isn't it? Tell us all these sob stories so we'll spend our money and vote for them in the live rounds....and that's why the judges let people thru many times. 'Bout time somebody said it.

Oh, brother...the show has barely started and already there's trouble. Remember they film the auditions months in advance. Well, some poor guy who made it all the way thru Hollywood into the top 24 has been thrown off...and it wasn't even his fault. His father blabbed to the media that his son had made it so the producers chucked him off since it violated the confidentiality agreement. I think that's a little harsh, since it wasn't the contestant's fault.

Some guy named Michael Lynche...photo shows a black man with a guitar...but other than doesn't give many details except that his father blabbed to a Florida newspaper, so I guess the guy is from Florida? Anybody remember him and where he auditioned?

I don't remember, but I have seen a list of the top 24 already published. This same site put out a list last year that was accurate, so I'm thinking it probably is right. I know some people don't like spoilers, but I do. I like to see the ones on the list when they audition.

Since they have already been made public on the internet, then I am not sure how someone can be disqualified for telling it.

From what I've heard on our local radio station, Michael's audition was not aired on TV.
And btw, I love Neil Patrick Harris tonight. I hoped he stayed longer instead of one of the Jonas. Neil did a great job and very comfortable to be in the panel,

I think the fact was that a member of his family 'told the press' not that someone with connections found it out. I love spoilers, do you have the link to that top 24 list????

Yes, that's the issue. According to the article, contestants and their families have to sign agreements not to discuss the show. I wonder if they'll show him in Hollywood? Or if they'll address the issue on the last Hollywood episode? I mean, if he was in the Top 24, then they would have filmed him walking across the room and getting the good news from the judges. Now what will the producers do? Simply edit that part out and hope not many people know about the story?

I just love spoilers.

That's pretty much what I was thinking.

At first I thought Harris was rude, but after that first contestant he toned it down a bit and I loved him. I, too, wish he would have stayed.

I haven't had time to write about this and I am having trouble remembering who went on what night. What bugs me is you see all these people come out with golden tickets and then we don't get to hear them sing.

From what I understand from someone whose daughters friend tried out is she had to audition in front of 3 people before they let her go into to Simon and all of them. My friend said her daughters friend had a really good voice and she's not the type to say that but she's really tone deaf. Like all those people you see who think they can sing.

I liked a lot of people last week and a lot were just horrible. Almost more horrible then good I thought, at least from what I saw. More people got tickets than we saw.

Avril looked like the devil with those horns but I've seen them before. Hey, maybe she's a devil worshiper or she doesn't have a clue that Halloween was over in Oct.? Who knows? I wouldn't wear them. I think she was snarky too.

I'm not a big Katy Perry fan. Okay, I can't get into someone who likes girls that way and sings about it but wants to know if her boyfriend won't mind it. I won't be buying her music and I didn't like the way she acted either. I can do without her.

Joe Jonas wasn't on very long and he didn't say much at all. What was up with that? I like the Jonas Brothers but I don't know if it's because he wasn't on long or they didn't let him say much or what.

I also liked Neil Patrick Harris. He was nice and he did a good job. I wonder who will be on next week or are the auditions all over? I'd like to hear more good ones.

I feel like it's cheating to have pre audition auditions. And if that's the case, how do the bad singers get through?

---------

Luvsrickforever, I'm not saying I don't believe you. I DO believe you. I'm just saying it seems funny to me that if there are pre audtions that bad singers get to the auditions at all. Of course the bad singers are my favorite part, so maybe they let a certain percentage of bad ones through for entertainment purposes. I remember one year, this one girl was a mime, and she mimed an audition. She wasn't seriously auditioning of course...but they did say it was better then a lot they'd heard all day.

I never heard that Carrie Underwood was a believer. Singing "Jesus Take the Wheel" doesn't make you a Christian.

However, what about Chris Daughtry would make you question his walk with God?

Please enlighten us.
