I felt bad for Angela Martin too. Talk about perseverance...this girl has that.

I was disappointed Angela went home too...but I think something even better than AI will happen for her. She has so many strong points besides singing.

Some of those who slid through won't have a chance in the next week or two...

Mandisa was lamenting Angela Martin on Twitter. I was lamenting that they have so many slots to fill ... and that if they already have somebody of a certain type, that hurts your chances. Everything about this competition is wrong on so many levels.

I think they keep repeating the thing about the girls being really strong ... Randy was quoted that they are pushing for a girl because all the breakout stars (Kelly, Carrie) were the girls. Of course, they forgot about DAUGHTRY.

Daughtry doesn't count because he didn't win.

Did you notice that when the girl with the paralyzed face, Shelby Dressel, was eliminated Simon said that was the wrong decision. Once again I agree with Simon.

I was disappointed that Angela Martin went home. I was touched that Kara went to her to comfort her. Angela had been through a lot in the past 3 years. She was a better singer than half of the girls who went through. Kara was right that there are other avenues to pursue other than AI.
Thaddeus went home as well. Half of the guys they chose cannot sing. Especially the guy who looks like Jim Morrison. I hope that Thaddeus tries again next year.

AI obviously does not select the 24 best. They select perhaps 10 best and the other 14 are fodder.

I think part of the selection is image as much as singing. Part of the selection is who they think the public will like, but I think they have their favorites already. They have to have variety, some country, some blues, some rock, so that people who like different types will watch.

I hope Thaddeus will try next year too. I am pretty sure his mom will motivate him.

It is a TV show and they select with that in mind, they want those that will create a 'buzz', all 'buzz' isn't about how great things are. The bad is there for a purpose in doing their filming.

My friend Jermaine Purifoy didn't make it. I didn't hear his solo..."Brick House" I read...but he was better I'm sure than his fellow Jermaine (Sellers), who I heard was rude (for being a self-proclaimed "Church Boy") and the guy who is friends with Fantasia. The other part of his trio, Casey and Tim Tebow's friend got through...

I'm leaning toward the former Compton, now Mo Valley resident, Andrew Garcia. I read the other Hispanic contestant is a close neighbor in Huntington Park, CA...

Well, I disagree with Chris Sligh and recently told him so when he lamented that most of the contestants who don't make it are basically lost.

Btw, my last comment is with gratefullness to what Idol did for me. But anything anyone gets after the show is honestly in spite of the show

I basically said, "Really? they should be grateful for all that public exposure." I am sure someone will hear the auditions and sign some of these singers.

Overall, it was a good show tonight..I agreed with most of the decisions....the last girl with the glasses who was begging was just plain annoying and needed to go gracefully. I think she hurt her chances of another offer by acting so immature.

Oh, good grief...I turned down the volume as soon as she started begging. Yuk. Not only do I agree with what you said, Buck, but for Pete's sake the producers were just letting her make a fool of herself for the ratings. As if she (or we?) thought the judges would actually change their minds and let her back in? Please. How many times did Simon have to say "We're not going to change our minds?"

I'm so sorry that Bryan went home. I was rooting for him.

Oh, man, that was just sad that they didn't let Angela through. Sad...sad...sad (The same could be said for Shelby.) I read an article yesterday where the author said, "I hope she [Angela] wins the lottery. She deserves it."

I agree with the above posts about "ratings fodder." Some of those contestants are clearly not going to go far and it's a big shame that they were let thru for ratings when real talents like Angela and Shelby were cut.

On a postive note, I am so glad that Lynche got thru. You think there was some sort of outcry and the producers backed down? Or were they afraid of an outcry after showing all that emotional footage about him and his baby?

Great news for Angela Martin. From what I heard on the Ellen show, Kara is doing her best to get her a record deal.

I got the winner picked out already. It will be the blond guy.. the one with the long blond hair, plays the guitar, sings mostly jazz. He will win. Anyone care to bet.

I like that the young 16 year old from CT made it though. She is a good singer for a 16 year old. I was sad that the girl with the cleft pallet didn't make it. How cool would it have been if she did? I mean they are always saying the music biz is about looks and she would have proved them wrong. I liked a lot of them but there were not enough spots to fill to have them all. I think some good ones were let go but I'm not a judge. I can't wait for this week. We will be switching back and forth between the Olympics. My VCR is busted so I can't tape anything.

I don't know what happened with the girls but I didn't care for any of them tonight. I don't think there was one of them that did a really great performance.

I liked Lily, Crystal, Katie, and (grudgingly) Katelyn.

Too bad about Janell and Lacey. I think they're going bye-bye.

I'm surprise with the girls tonight. I liked 4 of them during the auditions but the performances tonight were dissapointing. I like Lilly though. It seems like the auditions did highlights a lot more with the girls than the boys so maybe the guys will surprise us tomorrow.

Chrystal was the best. Then Lilly. Some were awful. Some weren't good. Some were okay.

I thought the girls were awful tonight...poor song choices, terrible outfits for many, and just overall embarrassing performaces. I suppose it was a bad case of nerves, but at this stage of the game they have got to produce or go home.

I agree that the long haired blonde guy is 1 to watch..I like Jermaine also.

I was quite bored last night and not many of the girls stood out. If this is the best of the best that I have heard so many times, then I must be missing something. Hopefully the guys will deliver tonight.

Same here. I was not impressed by any of the performances.
