I just watched it. Honestly, I skipped most of the performances. As soon as I would hear them go off-key...next. The only one that I can remember after watching it was Crystal. I like her, but I agreed that she can do much better. I've liked her since the first time she showed up, and it is nice to hear her be honest about not thinking AI is the right platform for her. I doubt I'll be watching tonight, will probably catch up tomorrow. I'm hoping they're good, but I don't have my hopes too high. The first week is always bad.

Also, I thought Ellen did a good job. Randy was worthless, as usual. And it almost seems that Kara is now taking the place of Paula with her loopy talking. I guess it's better than her making completely inaccurate statements about music history. She's still terrible. Some people should just stay behind the scenes.

ORIGINAL: Saltlight_2188 I liked Lily, Crystal, Katie, and (grudgingly) Katelyn. Too bad about Janell and Lacey. I think they're going bye-bye. Loved Lily's song choice. I had never heard of that song, and I like being surprised. I don't care what Simon said, I loved Chrystal's choice of song. Maybe it's because I'm an art house type of person. I also thought it was brave of her to admit she didn't really follow the show before this. It was kind of refreshing after all the endless "I've been watching this show since I was 4 yrs old and dreamed of being on it!" from most of the other contestants. Liked Katie, too, but I hope the curse of Buble doesn't strike. A few seasoons ago some girl in the Top 24 sang that song and she was eliminated that week. Loved Siobahn. I agreed with Ellen, I forgot I was watching a contest and felt like I was watching a concert. I wanted to like Lacey, but I couldn't understand most of her lyrics. The rest of them were so blah I didn't watch them. I'm like you, Everythingat. As soon as a girl and would start singing and I realized I didn't care, I would flip over to the Olympics. (Fortunately, here in our area Fox and NBC are back-to-back on the channel dial. I'll probably end up doing the same thing tonight.)

I ended up watching it tonight with my cousin. I didn't think it could get any worse than the girls, but it did. At least I remembered two or three of them. The only ones that stood out tonight was the blond guy and the Garcia fellow at the end. I thought the Fall Out Boy cover was okay when he it was just him playing acoustic, but turned sour when the band came in. What is with these arrangements this season? They are even worse than the contestants. The music is too quiet, the vocals are too loud, and they're making every song sound like it should be played on an adult contemporary/soft rock radio station. It's intolerable and makes the show even more boring to watch. I find myself cringing in embarrassment for the poor people on the show. Oh, and the poor stupid kid that thought OneRepublic's Apologize was a fun song? The chorus is "It's too late to apologize." What is fun about a depressing break-up song? His falsetto was horrific.

The whole thing with Kara and the blonde guy was stupid. If I were a parent in the audience and that happened I would not even want my son/daughter to be a part of the competition. It's condescending to say the least. Most of the other guy's did just as poorly as the girl's. It might be a longggg season.

I think iCasey (blond guy) was even embarrassed by Kara's behavior. It was just plain silly. So were the comments to some of the guys about how "adorable" they are. Last night was the first time I had seen Joe and I didn't think he was as bad as some of the ones who had been hyped up during the pre-shows. I thought I'd like Jeremaine Sellers, but last night I didn't. It is going to be an interesting season; they have to improve as they can't get much worst.

700,000 auditioned this season and this is the best they could find? Is there no one between the ages of 16 and 30 that can sing? No one? None?

I wanted to like the guys, I really did..... Last night, the only ones I could stand to listen to were Joe, Lee, and Andrew. Casey might have been ok if not for Kara's ridiculousness. 70s dude was a huge disappointment. I really hope these guys (and gals for that matter) get better or it will be a very short season for me.

Last night was pretty bad. Only a few of the guys stood out like Aaron and Casey. The rest seemed to be bad. It seems to me that I can't hear the music when the singers sing. It seems to be more hushed in the background and the singers are screaming. This show is pretty much going downhill. No wonder Simon is leaving. Here's an article from Patti LaBelle that I found. It is quite interesting and she knows what she is talking about having been in the music business most of her life. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100224/ap_on_en_tv/us_people_patti_labelle_14

Omygoodness, you HAVE to get on Twitter just to see what Chris Sligh has to say! He was hoping to ignore Aaron (I think that was his name ... country boy) and said, "He's singing my song." Then "He's butchering my song." Sligh did write the song that Rascal Flatts recorded. The only ones I really liked were Andrew and Casey ... and Lee ... well .... he was OK. Joe in my opinion was the worst. Bad elevator music. If he lands in the top 3, then I predict he'll sing with Neil Diamond. That's how cheesy he is!

I am just now watching the guys sing. I think there were a couple of them that were ok but I can't remember who they were. I just don't get the thing with that Casey guy. I personally don't find him attractive and I don't think he is that great of a singer. I think Kara needs to start being professional and stop acting like some love struck teenager. I think he will be in the competition for awhile and I just don't want to hear and watch her swoon over him in the weeks to come.

I think it's easy to criticize the contestants during the first performance but then I would be terrified and nervous too and you can tell with most of them....that's what happened. The auditions were different. They had less people around them, they know they're there to please the judges but a live show...it will be nerve wrecking for anybody. Hopefully 'will see them get use to the live atmosphere after last night.

I can't even remember the rest of what I had planned to say. I missed Lee's performance, so I can't judge if Simon was right and he was the best. If it's true, though, then it figures I would miss the one performance worth hearing. I wouldn't say that Lee's performance was worth hearing. It was just better than most of the other performances. That's not saying much.

ORIGINAL: redeemedsaint I kind of get tired when Ryan asked Randy or any of the judges which one of the contestants will be going home and Randy says I don't know man too tough to call. Not for me it isn't. I wish they would come out and say it like Simon does and quit this I don't know stuff. Couldn't agree more.

I loved Lilly doing Fixing A Hole. I forget that some of you guys are much younger than I am. The song is off of Sargent Pepper and it's the 3rd song on the CD. I almost said side 1. Okay, I am showing my age. Sometimes I like when people do Beatle songs but sometimes they butcher then like the I Want To Hold Your Hand and Oh Darling. I did not like them. Out of the girls I liked Lilly Scott, Michelle, Didi Binami, Chrystal Bowersox, and my fave Katie Stevens because she is from CT where I am from. I hope they keep her for a while. I was going to vote for them but got on my computer and forgot! It's called CRS. Can't Remember Stuff! LOL I hope next week they pick better songs. Of the boys I liked Toddrick Hall, Aaron, Tyler Grady whose version of American Woman I loved but he's gone, boo hoo, John park and Casey James. This time I did remember to vote. I get through every time too. I'm not real impressed with who they picked this year but maybe it's because they were nervous last week. After all, it was live. I do dance competitions and dance recitals and live, in front of judges and parents is really cool but some people get freaked out by it. Let's hope next week is better for the guys too. I agree about Kara. She should remember what happened with Paula and not let it happen with her. She's also married which she mentioned when she said "I love you honey." Yeah, better let him know. One more thing. When the last song starts, you can start to vote even though they tell you to vote when they tell you to. My sister started doing that last year and told me about it. It tells you that you voted for contestant 1 or 2, just like when you vote when they tell you to. I don't know how my sister was told about this but I've been getting in extra votes this way. Can't wait for next week!

I'm still perturbed that some people got in over Jermaine Purifory!!! His vocal was far superior to alot of the guys they had...especially to bring Tim Urban in. And Joe went over him?!? I just don't get it... If Andrew doesn't make it, I won't be watching...

Mediocre night. Not completely horrible, but zzzzzzzzzzz....oh wait, I was typing. Had to look at the American Idol website to remember the contestants. Jermaine Sellers is horrible. His arrogance is insulting, his comment about knowing God so he knows he's going to stick around was silly. Plus when he hits those high "notes," my ears begin to bleed. Sounds terrible and so far from any right key. No one really stood out other than Michael and Lee. Ha, had to look at the website again to remember their names. I've never had to do that. Michael only because I love that James Brown song even if his words were unintelligible at times, and Lee because everyone else is a failure. Was sad about Crystal, she was the only thing I was looking forward to. The judges' comments are backwards. Make it your own, but don't change it too much. Which Adam Lambert changed just about every song he sang completely, and they sang his praises from week to week. Then again, he actually stood out. However, I think their criticisms are not helpful this season. They're pretty much telling the contestants to be clones, but slightly altered clones. Because clones will only be one-hit wonders, and slightly altered clones will at least have two albums to sell well. Very obvious that Simon is ready to get out of there, especially with his remark about wishing he could have chosen some guy's song. Since the judges choose the songs on The X-Factor. Ah well. Better luck next year, old man.

I get confused by the comments too "make it your own" then when they do "it just didn't sound like the original". What are they asking the contestants to do? I was turned off by Jermaine's comments last night as well. Does he think he is the only one God cares about? Did not like Casey last night, but thought Kara overdid the criticism. I guess she is trying to make up for supposedly being in love with him.

Much better than last week. I too was put off by Jermaine's comments thinking that he will stay another week because he knows God. He is very prideful and arrogant. I wonder if he does go home, what he will think of God then? His view of God is distorted. Andrew is still getting compared to what he did with Straight Up. It may be the end of the line for him soon. He showed no emotion when singing last night. Alex surprised me and he was the best. Aaron way overdid the song vocally. He didn't need to scream. I believe the ones in danger are John, Toddrick, Jermaine, and Tim with Jermaine and Toddrick going home.
