I was laughing because these girls put on their bikinis and then had to play a game with his wife and kids. LOL! Autumn and Scott both need to go. Too much drama on the womens team. I would never pass the white glove test. Do you think the Italian guy is exaggerating or not? I know that some people never get rid of their accents, but he can't read and write english after being here 21 years?

I don't know about the women, but on the men's side, one I could realistically see winning is Ben.

Yeah, Ben really showed up. He does have potential. Salvatore showed at the beginning that he can drop the accent. It was quite strange to see the other night that he could not write in English for as long as he has been here. Obviously, that hit a soft spot w/ him & he made be ashamed that he has not learned yet. I'm sure he didn't expect to be dealing w/ that on the show. Somehow, I think it was known & they wanted to show his deficit. I can't get over Chef's need to show his wife & now his family. I thought all the rumors had died down. I don't think he needs to prove anything to us & contestants. It's just the media that was all over him. k

I haven't watched the episode yet...was too busy Tuesday so I'll catch it on the internet soon. However, I remember seeing Salvatore's no-writing-thing in last week's preview, and that really jumped out at me. You've lived here for how long and you can't write English? I used to work for a doctor who came here from Vietnam when he was a teenager...didn't speak English when he arrived...but within a few years was fluent enough to get through college and med school. Obviously, he could write English, too. As for the accent, didn't he say in the first episode that he just keeps it to attract women?

right. Salvatore would have attended some school here. He's not that old. and you wouldn't have to be fluent either, to write it down.. you'd just need the names of the food. I could get by in a mexican restaurant.. writing down the orders if I needed.. Yes he did say that in the first episode.

Wow, Scott sure was full of himself, glad to see him go. He was a team cancer. I think blue team was glad to have Autumn instead of Scott at that spa bath. ;)

Which means he dropped out of school at a young age to help his family when he arrived here admirable but also against the laws in most of our states I would guess since he was 14 yrs old. quote:

He was all talk and that talk was annoying to the viewers and the people he was working with. We had DVR'd the episode so I fastforwarded through the reward with the spa because I just don't care about the reward stuff. Poor Benjamin!!!

It looked like to me from the previews that Benjamin might be copping an attitude from the get go. That won't work so well for him. I think Jay's about to blow his stack too. He seems a bit cocky. Hadn't heard too much from Ed lately. Wonder if he'll be surviving. I'm glad Scott is gone. He's a narcicisst. Nilka is going to blow a gasket if she don't calm down! k

I think Chef is fully aware of the women vs. men problem. The whole purpose is to find a leader, that can deal w/ an extremely difficult staff. He sees it much better w/ this kind of dynamic. He can weed out the extremely weak ones in the beginning doing the women vs. men way. We the teams come together as one, it's because they survived that part & then have to focus on not being so headstrong & really working as a team. That's why Scott was out so quickly because he was too bossy from the get go & wasn't able to show any kind of ability. You certainly have to be able to do both at the same time. I'm not sure at all it matters that Nilka has any kind of ability, she would never be able to get along w/ her employees. She will not win this. k

She will not win this. I agree with that. I think there has only been one woman winner, right? She was on a few weeks ago working with the women's team. My son was saying yesterday that he was shocked that two chef's could run the whole kitchen when all those ladies and Scott could not. I told him that was because they are professionals and they work together. I told him that is called work ethic, you get in there roll up your sleeves and get the job done no matter what.

According to Wikipedia, Heather won Season Two, and Christina won Season Four. I really believe that FOX goes out and finds 1-2 people that have a legitimate shot at winning, then load up the other 14 spots with people with personality problems. It's hard to believe that these people really are the cream of the crop? I think part of the show's charm is to watch everybody wearing their emotions right on their sleeve. I also laugh that none of these idiots realize that future employers are watching their antics. Would I want to hire somebody who had no problem stabbing people in the back to win some silly contest? My favorite part of the show? Watching Chef Scott go off on somebody. It's rare, so it's definitely worth it when he does it. Using British slang on an American crowd tends to lessen the emotional impact. Overall it's a fun show, just to watch the meltdown and the drama. These people act surprised at the stuff they are expected to do. I had some sympathy for the crowd in season one, but none since. After all, they all AUDITIONED to get on the show!

Wow, what's happening with Ben, he's turning into kind of a jerk? And while I don't think Siobhan would have won, she got a raw deal tonight. Fran should have been gone.

Someone mentioned something about the behavior of contestants & what future employers would think. What about present employers? What if Ed doesn't win? He goes back to the high school. After his antics, you think the school would really want him in the classroom? k

Yeah....I thought about Ed. I don't think he'll ever get his job back after that drunk strip situation.

Wareeagle - I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw that episode. "That sound you hear is Ed's school district terminating his employment contract'. I was impressed when Ben swtiched sides, but he's quickly turned into an idiot. Looking forward to seeing him getting humbled. Anybody notice Holly hasn't been up on the chopping block once? The best ones seem to just keep their mouth shuts and blend into the background.

Holly does seem to be holding her spot well. It could change when the teams merge. She could either get really good or totally crash. I forgot - what's the count when the teams merge? Is it 6? k
