TPTB-The powers that be

On the relationship issue, I don't get what Holli sees in Jay. His 'charm' appears to consist of making sexual jokes. Not someone I'd be crazy about my daughter dating (if I had one). On the other hand, didn't Holli once say she was, how can I put this nicely, less than picky about picking a guy to hook up with? ;)

Just in watching Autumn's behavior from the beginning, I do think she has it in her to sabotage. She has been pulling off the nice girl image to help her advancement as the number of contestants gets lower. Yes, & Jay is capable of the same. No way is he going to help Ben. He's winning him over for his purposes only.

Well, it was probably staged for Autumn to show up in the hot tub just at the right time. Big brother is watching & knew the timing well.

It's really hard to tell at the moment how it will turn out. Chef has been known to surprise us. But, I am holding to that he wants a woman to win this time.

SP, your statement is in writing & you can't get rid of it! LOL

I think both Autumn and Jay have it in them to double cross or sabotage their teammates. I think that Autumn wanted Jay and Holli to think that she did not know what was going on when she stepped into the hot tub but she was doing Holli a favor by doing it. She knew good and well what she was doing, she is not stupid. I think if I remember right she is a little old than Holli even if she isn't she certainly is wiser.

I was rooting for Ben but then he imploded and doesn't seem like he can run a kitchen. I really do not have a favorite in this bunch except Holli although I don't know if she can run a kitchen and believe it or not Autumn is growing on me.

I'm going to go out on a limb wareagle and april.

Despite the previews, I will not expect Autumn to resort to sabotage in tomorrow's episode.

I hope my judge of character isn't wrong. I just can't imagine Autumn doing such a thing.

You guys really believe Autumn's behavior is more of a "good girl" act?

I have to say that my gut tells me she is sincere. The way she went about quietly helping others (or, at least, offering to help) and staying out of the gossip and social drama between contestants in their off time seemed to show good character to me. I thought she displayed some positive aspects of a servant's heart. ....I don't know, guys...............The previews sure make it tough, but I'm going to officially stick by my prediction.

It'll be fun to catch up on things after Tuesday's episode.

I think her good girl act is subtle. In the beginning, she tried to be like Ben is now, but not quite as evasive. W/ fewer numbers it is easy for the true colors to come out & I just think some of that old Autumn that the red team didn't like will come back. We'll see. k

The description of tonight's episode from our local tv guide says the chefs teach bachelors how to cook monkfish. Just about every dinner service, all of the fish dishes are coming back because they're raw. How are they gonna pull this one off?

Wow!

I was impressed and touched by Chef Ramsay's heart and decision tonight (on Ep. 13). He was just. I cheered his decision with Autumn and Ben.

Great show and ending!

............and my "dark horse" is alive!

Since all the family and friends were already there, I am thinking that he did not plan to send anyone home. They all did well and no major fights, but I still can't see any of these people as a head chef. Jay maybe.

Questions I thought of: Each year he appoints someone to be head chef at one of his restaurants. What happens to the person who is currently the head chef? Are they promoted? Fired? Or are these positions at new restaurants?

I have no idea. I am not sure if it is the actual job or if it's like an internship and they are working under the existing head chef. But I think they were all new restaurants.

Jay's blue and green hair bugs me. Don't know why. LOL

From this search:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hell's_Kitchen_(U.S.)

It looks like it is mixed as far as if they work on their own or under another chef. It also looks like some have not fared very well under the stress of the job. Last years winner left due to "other commitments". Good grief! After all that trouble and pain to get there those must have been some important commitments. Maybe the reality is more than they thought or more than it is worth becuase being a chef in a real that environment vs most kitchens I think is like training being a doctor: you give up a lot to get there. Is it really worth it?

We were watching "Chopped" once and the Chef said he had given up living with his family to build his career. He wanted to win to see if it had been worth it and for his sons.

So, did it turn out like you expected? I'm kind of surprised that Ben got away w/ everything & Chef not saying a word. It's always interesting. Once the royal pain is eliminated, they go out like nothing ever happened. It's almost like they were acting the whole time & the person leaving Hell's Kitchen is the real person. I don't get it. Although, they have had a few mental cases walking down that hallway, I'm just real surprised we didn't hear much from Ben.

Previews show a pretty typical finale - lots of the same ole, same ole, from cast members that can't cook! k

Ok, so I have done some digging on this question. If you look at the wiki article it shows that Michael Wray did not accept the position. That got me wondering, why? He went to London and left after 5 days. I went and researched more. It turns out that the TV show says they are to win an Executive Chef position but when he got there they offered him a much lower position something lower than a Sous Chef job. The same thing happened to the Season Two winner, who actually took the job.

Here is the link to the article:

http://la.eater.com/archives/2007/02/14/hells_kitchen_la_connections_spoilers_and_empty_promises.php

It also looks like in other seasons if Wiki is accurate the winning Chef's did not get the Executive Chef job but a lower position. Chef Ramsey is not stupid he is not going to ruin one of his restaurants for someone who is not ready. I guess they are not guaranteed the Executive Chef job after all. I wonder if they still get the $. I am sure somewhere in the fine print it is there.

Dave from last season seems to have taken it for the duration of the Olympics then left for other commitments. If you look at the Araxi website it says he will be back in the summer for a visit.

So who do you guys think will win it all? Jay or Holli?

And even though we saw the teams, who would be your first pick for a teammate on the final?

Holli has got to handle the pass better or she doesn't have a chance. I think whoever has Fran doesn't have a good chance. Ben should perform better because the pressure isn't on him anymore. k

If I was Holli or Jay, I would be willing to pick Ed as say a second pick. No he's not the best chef, but I think he has a good attitude and can work with people. In these finals, attitude seems to be almost as important as talent.

I might get flamed for saying this... but I didn't like Ben. Maybe he could cook, but his attitude was horrible. Every time he talked (just about), all I heard was something like "I'm the best; you're not the best because you're not a chef like I am" blah blah, blah blah.

Sorry to see that Ed did not make it back so that forced them to pick up Siobhan. Fortunately, it did not effect Holli's chances. I honestly think that the finale lacked much intensity, so Chef's pick had to be more based on past events in the kitchen. I figured he wanted to pick a woman & I was right.

Seems to me, Holli's ex is still too much in the picture. So, just who will Holli take to London w/ her? Sure didn't care much for the final line of the evening given by Jay. Uhh! k

Didn't she have some comment like "sorry, Jay, but I'm taking my son and (ex's name) to London with me" after spending time with them on the boat?

Yes, she did. All through the series she said if she won she was taking her son and her ex to London with her.
